Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a form of gentle manual therapy that focuses on subtle movement of the fascia, cranial bones, and joints. It entails very precise touches and motions to detect and alleviate restrictions and disruptions to the flow and rhythm of fluids circulating around the brain and spine.

Hard-to-pinpoint pain? It may be undiagnosed restrictions in the fascia

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and interconnects structures inside the body.

It covers muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves, binding some structures together, while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.

When the fascia is restricted it decreases the body’s ability to heal and can cause nerves to misfire or be constantly stimulated.

People often experience a variety of symptoms, including limited motion, tightness, numbness, muscle weakness and tingling.

Because there's currently no diagnostic test for this condition, symptoms can elude diagnosis or be improperly diagnosed.

Therefore, therapy is often “symptomatic,” with the underlying cause going untreated.

Improving your body's ability to heal, increase motion and lessen pain

At SFNM, we have experts in craniosacral therapy, a natural therapy developed in the early 1900’s by osteopathic physicians.

We use CST to treat various conditions that arise from restrictions and adhesions in the fascia.

Using a light touch, our skilled doctors slowly and patiently relieve the tightness layer by layer, moving deep into the fascia.

You begin to see a range of motion improve, pain lessen and your body's overall ability to heal improve.

Relief for a wide variety of conditions such as chronic pain and headaches

Craniosacral therapy can be highly effective in treating a wide variety of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, PTSD, TMJ, tinnitus, vertigo, autism, ADD/ADHD, sinus infections, stress, pain caused by braces, and more.

We have seen that CST often has an added benefit. Due to the positive effects it has on the nervous system, craniosacral therapy provides patients with a feeling of relaxation and calm during and after treatment.
